What is the purpose of Assign Funding to Role Types?

Assign Funding Sources to Role Types allows you to assign individual funding sources to a specific role type. The role type’s access to view funding source details is restricted to the specific funding that is assigned to the role.
If you have multiple sponsoring organizations, you will not want to use this functionality. The funding source, application, and user must all be within the same sponsoring organization. You cannot assign a fund that is not in the same sponsoring organization as the user account.
If activated, all role types will need to be assigned to your funding sources and as you add new funds you will need to add that funding source to the appropriate role types that you wish to view the specific funding.
Before you begin:
- You must first create the specific role types using the Admin option Manage Role Types.
- To activate this functionality, navigate to Administration > Manage Site Settings > Grants/Fellowship Settings: Show Funds based on Role Types, and set to Yes. If this is not set to Yes then this functionality will not be available in the Administration menu options.
- It is also important to note that this functionality is directly linked to the Grant/Fellowship Site Settings Custom Field #4. Therefore, if you have activated this field by selecting Yes for the Show on Grant Setup setting, it will display in this process.
