A Reviewer's Conflict of Interest (COI) in scholarship applications occurs when a reviewer has a personal, financial, or professional relationship with an applicant that could bias their evaluation. This can include family ties, friendships, professional collaborations, or economic interests. To maintain fairness and integrity in the selection process, reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts and recuse themselves from evaluating applications where a conflict exists. This ensures that decisions are based on merit and not influenced by personal connections.
