Create a Linked Question
Home > (Select - Application Name) > Application Settings > Sections and Questions > (Select - Section Name) > Select - Add Question
A linked question is a read-only display of a question that is linked to another question in the application. You may need to see the question data in another area of the application; therefore, this keeps the applicant from entering the information multiple times.
The linked question will automatically default to the response value of the question it is linked to. This is especially useful in the Request sections where you may need to show the requester how certain questions were answered by the applicant. If you use linked questions in a Request section, the linked questions must be answered by the applicant before the applicant assigning the request section to an individual.
To link questions:
Click the Question name displayed in blue to open the Question listing page.
Click the Add link in the Linked Question section at the top of the Add/Edit Question window.
The “Select the Question to link to:” window will display. This will list all the questions within your application by the section XML Name and Question XML Name. Scroll through the listing until you find the question you want to link to and click the blue Link button next to that question.
Once a question is linked, you will see the message “This is a linked Question” in the top left and the remaining data in the question setup will default to the same setup data as the “linked to” question.
Click Save or Save & Exit to record your changes. When you return to the Question report listing you will see a link icon in the Linked column to indicate the question is linked to another question within the application.
Important: When using linked questions, once the section that contains the linked question has been submitted, the original question will be locked, and the applicant will not be able to change the answer.
