How to Add Value Selections to a Question
Home > (Select - Application Name) > Application Settings > Sections and Questions > (Select - Section Name) > Select - Add Question
When you create the following question types, you will be prompted to add values from which applicants can select answers: Checkbox, Dropdown, Dependent Dropdown, Extended Checkbox, and Radio Button.
Click the Add Value(s) button and the Display Values table will display.
There are two columns in the table:
Label - The value that the applicant sees in the list of items displayed for the question. If the value for the Label is the same as the Value after you enter the Label click the plus sign on the end of the row and the Label value will be added to the Value field for you.
Value - This is the actual value result provided for the label. This is not viewable by the applicant, as it may contain additional data that should only be viewed by staff. This value is by filtering and conditional logic and displays in reports. It is useful for the internal coding of values that the applicant does not need to see.
After you enter the Label and Value, click the plus sign on the end of the row to save the row and create a new row for additional Label/Value combinations.
Note: When using the Dropdown question type, always start the first item in your list with the word Select in the Label and Value fields so that it is the first value in the listing. If you do not add Select, it will automatically answer the question with the first value in the list.
Editor: If you have a long list of selected items, the editor box allows you to make changes to the values you have entered. The editor can also be used to copy and paste long lists of values. In the editor, each Label and Value must be separated by a ~ (tilt) and no spaces between the Label and Value. The item to the left side of the ~ (tilt) is the Label and the item to the right is the Value.
If you need to delete a Label/Value combination, click the red X on the row you need to delete.
Click the Save & Close button to save all values you have entered.
Click the Cancel button to abandon any changes you have made and return to the Add/Edit Question page.
